Language Exchange: a fun and relaxed way to learn languages
Study Abroad UAB and the Language Service jointly organised a Language Exchange for 15 international and local Bachelor’s degree students so that they could practice Spanish and English. The activity took place at the Casa Convalescència on 17 October.

This Spanish-English Exchange required students to have at least level B1 in both languages. The 15 students who attended included nine Study Abroad participants (eight Americans from the Pre-Established programme and one German from the B&M programme), and six local Bachelor’s degree students from Translation and Interpreting, Labour Relations, Economics and Business, and Journalism.
Marta Miró, from the Language Service, animated the activity offering ideas and making changes to the groups so that students got to know as many people as possible, and keeping an eye on the conversation time.
The activity was very popular with the students, and as the time passed and the ice was broken they began to speak much more comfortably with greater fluency and confidence. Given the success of this activity the idea is to repeat it as a fun and enriching way of learning.
