The Fundació Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (FUAB) attended the 48th Annual Conference of Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) in South Carolina, USA. Over three days delegates from colleges and universities from around the world attended sessions on a broad range of topics around international education, share best practices and develop partnerships.

The Fundació Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (FUAB) attended 48th Annual Conference of Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) in South Carolina, USA.

Over 300 delegates attended the conference under the theme "Celebrating Global Education: Advancing Excellence and Empowerment". There were official delegations from Ireland, Jamaica and the United States and over 50 workshops and presentations over three days.

Dr. Katherine Caruso from Lone Star College (Texas) and Richard Turner, International Coordinator of the FUAB, presented a session entitled Educating the Universities: Developing Multi-Purpose Short-Term Exchange Programs showing how the Study Abroad programme has opened up opportunites for a wider international partnership between the institutions.

Community Colleges make up nearly 50% of the Higher Education sector in the USA with over 1,000 colleges and 9 million students. They pride themselves on offering open access to a diverse population and are characterised by close links  with universities,  schools, community groups, and employers  and offer vocational programmes and 2 year degree programmes with many students transferring to complete 4 year degree programmes at universities.
