Requirements and considerations
Applications for admission may be submitted by individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Have started an officially Spanish university degree programme.
- Be eligible for the recognition of 30 or more credits. For the purposes of assessing the applicant’s academic record prior to credit recognition, academic results obtained up to the deadline for submitting the application for admission will be taken into account.
- Have no modules on their original academic record that they have failed for the fourth or subsequent time.
- Nor will admission be granted through this route to applicants who, following the credit transfer process, are awarded 75% or more of the total number of credits for the degree programme they wish to join, except in cases where places remain vacant and the relevant UAB vice-rectorate authorises it.
- High-level and high-performance athletes who have to change their place of residence for sporting reasons will be admitted to the courses they have applied for, without taking up the places reserved through this route, provided they meet all other requirements.
Applications and documentation
Applications to change your course at a Spanish university must be submitted online via the following links:
- https://sia.uab.es/ > Solicitud de cambio de estudios de grado con NIU (in the case of students who have already been enrolled at the UAB and already have a NIU).
- https://sia.uab.es/ > Solicitud de cambio de estudios de grado sin NIU (in the case of students who have NEVER been enrolled at the UAB).
Applications sent by email won’t be accepted under any circumstance.
The application must be accompanied by the following documents:
- A photocopy of your National Identity Card, Foreigner Identification Number or Passport.
- A personal academic transcript showing the marks obtained in all subjects, the number of credits for each subject, and the number of attempts made. It must also include the entrance examination mark.
- Course syllabus or programme for the subjects studied, bearing the stamp of the home university.
- Curriculum for the home degree programme, stating the date of publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and bearing the institution’s stamp.
- Grading system of the home university, provided that it does not originate from the Spanish education system.
- Receipt for payment of the public tuition fee.
- Document proving exemption from or a reduction in this public fee.
- Any other documents the applicant deems appropriate.
All accompanying documentation must comply with the translation and legalisation requirements set out in the current regulations.
Review and processing of applications
- Applications from individuals who do not meet the specified requirements will be rejected.
- Applications that meet the requirements will be ranked according to the following criteria:
- Firstly, applicants holding degrees in fields related to the subject area of the programmes applied for.
- Secondly, applicants holding degrees in fields not related to the subject area of the programmes applied for.
- Within each group, applications will be ranked according to the following criteria:
- The average mark for the recognised credits will be calculated.
- In the programmes where this is specified, the average mark obtained may be weighted against the university entrance examination result.
Observations
- If an admitted student fails to complete their enrolment within the specified period, it may be deemed that they have withdrawn their application and their place may be allocated to another applicant.
- This process is compatible with university pre-enrolment through the Catalan Government’s University Admissions Guidance Office.
- Students who do not meet the requirements and wish to change their course or university must complete university pre-enrolment at the Office of Guidance for University Access of the Government of Catalonia in order to enter the new undergraduate degree programme.
