Requirements and considerations
Applications for admission may be submitted by individuals who meet the following requirements:
- To have completed some or all of their university studies abroad, provided that these have not been recognised or deemed equivalent to the level of a degree in Spain.
- Be able to have 30 credits or more recognised. For the purposes of the preliminary assessment of the academic record for the recognition of credits, the academic results obtained by the student up to the deadline for submitting the application for admission must be taken into account.
- Not having any modules on their original academic record that they have failed for the fourth or subsequent time.
- Furthermore, once the credit recognition process has been completed, those who have had 75% or more of the total number of credits for the degree programme they wish to enter recognised are not eligible for admission via this route, except in cases where places remain vacant and the relevant UAB Vice-Rector’s Office authorises it.
Applications and documentation
Applications to change your course at a Spanish university must be submitted online via the following links:
- https://sia.uab.es/ > Solicitud de cambio de estudios de grado con NIU (in the case of students who have already been enrolled at the UAB and already have a NIU).
- https://sia.uab.es/ > Solicitud de cambio de estudios de grado sin NIU (in the case of students who have NEVER been enrolled at the UAB).
Applications sent by email won’t be accepted under any circumstance.
The application must be accompanied by the following documentation:
- Original and photocopy of your National Identity Card (DNI), Foreigner Identification Number (NIE) or passport.
- Personal academic transcript.
- Syllabus for the original course of study.
- Syllabuses or course guides for the subjects studied, certified by the home university.
- Grading system of the home university.
- Declaration of equivalence of average marks for university studies undertaken at foreign institutions
- Receipt for payment of the public fee.
- Document proving exemption from or a reduction in this public fee.
- Any other documentation the applicant deems appropriate.
Documentation relating to studies undertaken abroad must be official, issued by the competent authorities, and duly legalised through diplomatic channels, in accordance with the provisions established by the competent bodies, except for documentation originating from European Union member states. The documentation must comply with the translation requirements set out in current regulations.
Review and ranking of applications
- Applications from candidates who do not meet the established requirements will be rejected.
- Applications that meet the aforementioned requirements will be ranked according to the following criteria:
- Firstly, candidates holding degrees in fields related to the subject area of the programmes applied for.
- Secondly, candidates holding degrees in fields not related to the subject area of the programmes applied for.
- Within each group, applications will be ranked according to the following criteria:
- The average mark for the recognised credits will be calculated.
- In the case of courses where this is specified, the average mark obtained may be weighted against the university entrance examination result.
Observations:
- If an admitted student fails to complete their enrolment within the specified period, it may be deemed that they have withdrawn their application and their place may be allocated to another applicant.
- If 30 or more credits are recognised, you will not be able to apply for admission to the UAB for that same academic year via another university admission route.
- If between 1 and 29 credits are recognised, you may apply for admission via the university pre-enrolment route only for the degree programme and institution specified in the recognition decision and with a grade of 5.
- If no credits are recognised, you must follow the relevant general admission procedure.
