Employment Relations and Work Organisation

Employment Relations and Work Organisation

Over recent decades, production systems and employment relations have undergone significant transformations. At the same time, major changes have taken place in the regulation of individual and collective labour rights, as well as in the employment and labour policies developed by public administrations.

The study of these transformations and their effects is a well-established area of research at the IET.

Research in this field focuses on the following areas:

  • Transformations and new forms of business, work and employment organisation, and their impact on working conditions and forms of collective representation.
  • Employer and trade union strategies for pursuing their objectives at company and supra-company levels through collective bargaining, as well as the dynamics of cooperation and conflict that these strategies generate.
  • Social dialogue and changes in labour market regulation, transformations in public employment policies, and the coordination between different levels of governance: the European Union, national, regional and local administrations.
