Training Complements Week for the 2025–2026 academic year
Workshop led by Arnau López and Roger Figueras, creators of SmartGIS.
Roger and Arnau work in local government and are entrepreneurs in the field of geoinformation, with the aim of transforming 15-minute cities.
They have created SmartGIS, a platform that analyses the territory using open data, GIS and artificial intelligence.
The aim is to identify urban deficiencies and help public administrations and businesses make smarter decisions simply by asking questions in natural language.
The project is based on their experience in the sector and on the idea that geoinformation can be transformed into a real product and business.
This two-day course introduces students to the combined use of GIS tools and artificial intelligence techniques within the ArcGIS Pro environment. The course will cover the entire process, from the preparation and exploration of geospatial data to the application of AI models for analysis and classification tasks. The aim is for students to gain a practical understanding of how to integrate AI workflows into real-world GIS projects and how to make the most of ArcGIS Pro's capabilities to optimise work with territorial data.

Presentation of the first-semester project of the Master's Degree in Geoinformation to staff at Matadepera Town Council. Each group will have 10 minutes to present their main findings, using the poster as a visual aid.
A comprehensive and practical introduction to one of the most powerful platforms for the analysis and visualisation of geospatial data at a global scale. Google Earth Engine combines a vast catalogue of satellite and environmental data with cloud computing infrastructure, enabling geographical information to be processed quickly and efficiently without the need for high-capacity local resources.
In the first part of the course, students will become familiar with the Google Earth Engine environment for image processing and application development.

A workshop introducing the UAB Design Lab and the tools and equipment available there. Participants will also use a 3D printer to print a scale model of an area.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising industries, shaping technology and influencing our everyday lives. From virtual assistants and ChatGPT to personalised recommendations on streaming platforms. But what exactly is AI and how does it work? We will explore the fundamentals of AI and see how we are applying it to our territory.
In this practical session, we will work in an interactive environment using a Python notebook to explore and apply neural network models to the classification of different types of data. We will follow a guided approach covering all stages of the process: data analysis and processing, model training, and inference to obtain predictions.
We will experience maritime navigation and advanced cartography like professionals using the advanced simulator at the Faculty of Nautical Studies.
Training Complements Week for the 2023–2024 academic year
A workshop consisting of a brief introduction to the world of no-code technologies. We will then use some of these technologies to build a mobile application for collecting field data, a database with certain automated processes to manage the data entered through the mobile application, and finally, a simple web viewer for visualising the data.
