The IGPS/HTP

The Interdisciplinary Group for the Prevention and Study of Harmful Traditional Practices (IGPS/HTP), a research group in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the UAB. It was created in 2003 tithin the framework of a research line inaugurated by Prof. Adriana Kaplan.

The team, made up of professionals from various fields within the social sciences together with healthcare professionals, develops an applied research program, training and counseling activities, which allows the implementation of a holistic strategy to prevent FGM/C, incorporating the field experience in The Gambia and the knowledge acquired from the study of acculturation processes and social integration of the immigrant population (from sub-Saharan Africa) in Spain.
