In favour of university classes on campus
The UAB is in favour of a progressive return to on-site classes on campus, under a blended teaching modality.
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is a public university with most of its programmes offered in a classroom-based modality, strongly rooted and committed to its country and, at the same time, open to the world. As a university, we are optimistic despite the adversities we as a society are currently undergoing and fully confident that knowledge, science and know-how are the tools with which to build a better world that is more inhabitable, fairer and safer for the health of people.
This commitment to society has made us take the maximum precautions when following the directives set down by the Ministry for Health and adapt our classroom-based essence in order to scrupulously follow all health measures. Thanks to the commitment and efforts of the entire university community, including students, administration and services staff, lecturers and researchers, the UAB continues to offer the same quality service online required by this period of health crisis.
Our responsibility as the UAB's Governing Team is to guarantee the safety of all members of our community, as we have been doing since the beginning of the pandemic. However, we also consider that, given the classroom-based modality of our university, we must also vindicate our role as a university in which campus life is fundamental and irreplaceable, promoting the interactions and socialisations that are key to the comprehensive learning and personal growth of the students we are guiding, citizens who will be the driving force behind the social and intellectual changes of our country and of the world.
After almost a year since the onset of the pandemic, we at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona can affirm with great certainty that we are a safe university with all the necessary mechanisms to guarantee the health of all members of our community, and as has always been our goal, we wish to emphasise our importance as an on-site university with a clear will to return to our classes and our campus.
With this vocation and this objective, we will strive to make it possible to bring back our students and other members to the campus and our lecturing halls throughout this second semester, under a blended teacing modality.
