From 2 to 4 July, the UAB's Institute for Education Studies (ICE) held a new edition of its summer sessions, this year focused on education innovation. Over 70 teachers from different parts of Catalonia participated in these sessions dedicated to pedagogical training and renewal.

The workshops held in this year's edition, with a practical and collaborative approach, highlighted the key role of creativity in the classroom as a transversal tool to promoting critical thinking, knowledge and reflection among students. In addition to the workshops, the conference served as a space for sharing experiences, concerns and best practices among professionals from different places. The ICE thus reaffirms its role as a benchmark in the continuing education of teachers and teaching staff.

Edelmira Badillo, director of the ICE, emphasised that "the summer sessions are an ideal space to rethink education from a practical approach. This year we wanted to offer training that not only updates knowledge, but also inspires. The active participation of teachers shows us that there is a will for continuous improvement". José Luís Muñoz Moreno, vice-rector for Training and Teaching Innovation, pointed out that, "at the UAB, we understand teacher training as a strategic tool for educational quality. The ICE summer sessions are an example of our commitment to an open, critical education that is connected to the reality of the classrooms in our vecinity".

In parallel to the sessions held on campus, during the first two weeks of July, a dozen virtual courses are also being offered, with almost 250 teachers enrolled. These courses deal with current educational topics from an interdisciplinary and practical approach. Some topics this year include: “Com pensem, quan ja pensen les màquines?”, on critical thinking and artificial intelligence; “La lectura a l'etapa d'infantil”, which explores the possibilities of this educational pillar, and “Idees clau en l'ensenyament-aprenentatge de les ciències a primària”, with key ideas on teaching and learning science in the classroom.
