In May, lecturers Patricia Rodríguez-Inés and Anna Gil-Bardají, from the UAB’s Department of Translation, Interpreting and East Asian Studies (DTIEAO), successfully passed the selection process for full professorship, crowning academic careers distinguished by excellence in teaching, research and knowledge transfer.

Patricia Rodríguez-Inés specialises in Translation Studies, translation competence and translator training, with a notable track record in the field of corpus linguistics. Since 2000, she has lectured on translation into and from English, as well as technological resources for translators. She obtained her PhD from the UAB in 2008 and was a member of the PACTE research group for more than 20 years. She has participated in numerous national and international research projects and currently coordinates the FORTI (Translator and Interpreter Training) research group.

Anna Gil-Bardají, meanwhile, is a renowned specialist in translation and Arabic Studies. She has taught Arabic language and translation since 2001 at the UAB, where she also established and coordinated the Master's Degree in Contemporary Arabic Studies. Her research has focused on public service interpreting, translation theory and history, critical discourse analysis, and the translation of philosophical and literary texts from Arabic. She is an active member of the MIRAS research group and translates works of Arabic and French literature into Catalan and Spanish.

The two lecturers’ promotion to full professorship represents institutional recognition of decades of dedication to university teaching, high-quality research and the international visibility of Translation Studies at the UAB. This achievement further strengthens the academic leadership of both the DTIEAO and the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting in strategic areas of research and higher education.
