Television fiction as a driver of social values and healthy practices

The meeting was attended by the members of the research and working team, including Raquel Crisóstomo (UNIE Universidad–The Core School), Jorge Martínez Lucena (Universitat Abat Oliba CEU), Elena Neira (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya), Laura Pousa (UNIE Universidad–The Core School), and UAB Faculty of Communication professors Luisa Martínez, Quim Puig, Natividad Ramajo, and Anna Tous (Principal Investigator of the project). The session also included UAB PhD candidates Elena Fedotova and Rogmary García. The team further includes Alexandre Ternianov, a medical doctor specialized in endocrinology and advisor on health-related issues. Recent additions to the team are professor Leonor Balbuena (UAB) and PhD candidate Qianyi Yin. The project also includes an Advisory Board composed of Professor Milly Buonanno (Emeritus Professor at La Sapienza University, Rome), Stephen Glynn (De Montfort University, UK), Diane Negra (University College Dublin), and Melanie Williams (University of East Anglia, UK).

The project’s objectives are to explore television fiction as a driver of social values and healthy practices; to analyze its gender dimension and social impact; and to disaggregate the object of study by age groups, considering its influence on adults, youth, and adolescents. Sports-Politics aims to address social challenges related to gender inequality, the predominance of audiovisual consumption, health issues, risky behaviors, and physical inactivity.
