IRE researchers present the book Series deportivas en televisión. Una perspectiva de género on Onda Cero Radio

The book analyzes current sports series from a critical gender and intersectional perspective that advocates for a society with less discrimination.

The UAB senior lecturer and principal investigator of the Sports-Politics project, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Anna Tous; the professor at the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU, Jorge Martínez Lucena; and the PhD in Humanities and Communication, Raquel Crisóstomo, participated on Friday, May 15, in the program La Brúixola de Radioestadio on Onda Cero Barcelona.

During the interview, conducted by journalist José Agustín Gómez, the researchers presented the book Series deportivas de televisión. Una perspectiva de género, published by Tirant Lo Blanch, of which they are authors of different chapters. The conversation addressed how some contemporary sports series, such as Ted Lasso, Gambito de dama, The English Game, A League of their Own, or Las Pelotaris, represent issues such as gender, identity, success, or social inclusion.

Sports audiovisuals have become a key space for understanding some of current cultural changes. The participation in La Brúixola de Radioestadio, on Onda Cero, has brought university research closer to the general public and enhanced the visibility of the work developed within the framework of the Sports-Politics project, with this research being a result of the Gendered-Sports-Fiction project (PPC2023_574367).
