The UAB researchers Emilio Fernández Peña and Beatriz García have joined the working group that will develop the new educational activities of the International Olympic Academy, an institution linked to the International Olympic Committee and the Greek Olympic Committee.
Fernández Peña is the director of the UAB Sports Research Institute (an institute created this year that has taken over from the Olympic Studies Center) and García received a doctorate from the Olympic Studies Center with a thesis directed by Professor Miquel de Moragas and is currently doing research at the University of Liverpool. They are the two Spanish members of a group of nine people formed by representatives of institutions from Greece, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Germany.
The objective of this working group is to bring together academics and experts from different backgrounds to design the educational activity of the International Olympic Academy, an institution that, over sixty years, has hosted thousands of researchers to study the Olympic movement and debate on the future of sport. The work of this group is part of the renewal of the academy promoted by the International Olympic Committee with a contribution of twelve million dollars.
