The European project NEX-LABS led by the UAB has launched several participative proposals to to set down the bases of an international cooperation combining a start-up, incubators and accelerators in Italy, Lebanon, Tunisia, Cyprus, Spain, Egypt and Jordan. The project's mission is to favour more innovation and entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean region and advance towards a sustainable ecosystem of the water, energy and food sectors.
During the month of May, the UAB Theatre will host a series of shows created by the Dance, Theatre and Music classrooms that are the result of the work carried out during this academic year. It is a good opportunity for the UAB community to get to know contemporary theatre and dance free of charge and, at the same time, to promote and raise awareness of new artistic trends.
The "Thesis in 4 Minutes" competition final, in which students present their PhD thesis in a maximum of four minutes, will take place on 17 May at 12 noon at the UAB Doctoral School. The event will be streamed live on the UAB's YouTube channel.
On 12 May from 1 to 3 p.m. a series of "activities on campus" will be held, all of which are organised by the UAB teaching centres. These activities can be cultural, participative and/or complementary to the academic courses (conferences, seminars, talks, debates, institutional events, etc.).
The call, which is open to UAB lecturers and adminstration and services staff, aims to foster the creation of graduate and continuous learning courses. Deadline for applications is 30 June 2023.
From 17 to 21 April, the UAB launches a new initiative under the name of BiciBus UAB: volunteers that will act as guides and accompany people on bike from different cities to the UAB campus. The goal is to help new bikers discover the routes to be used to get to and from campus. There will be volunteers in Cerdanyola, Sabadell, Sant Quirze, Sant Cugat, Terrassa, Barcelona (Renfe Sant Andreu Arenal) and la Llagosta.
In the 2023 edition of the UAB's Bioblitz, participants detected for the first time on campus the presence of the lichen Waynea stocechadiana, considered a vulnerable species in Catalonia, in addition to identifying 260 animal and plant species. Thanks to these two editions and other contributions by campus users, the UAB has managed to register 645 different species and conducted almost 1800 observations, which can be consulted at the iNaturalist project "Biodiversitat del campus UAB".
