According to Royal Decree 463/2020 passed by the Spanish Government, in which the state of alert is declared towards the management of the health crisis created by COVID – 19, the PRUAB has decided to reduce all on-site activity to the minimum level necessary to assure the safety of its personnel and facilities. All communications during this health crisis will be posted in the university's web portal (www.uab.cat/coronavirus).
With regard to the current state of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the UAB is adhering strictly to the instructions dictated by the Catalan and Spanish Ministries for Health and the Catalan Public Health Agency, and a monitoring commission has been set up to analyze daily the information received from official sources. The UAB Doctoral School has organised a competition for its PhD students. The challenge consists in an oral presentation of their research, lasting a maximum of four minutes and aimed at a general public. All those interested can sign up from 28 February to 29 March.
On 13 February, the UAB once again organises a solidarity hot chocolate drive to raise funds for research projects focusing on childhood cancer at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona.
A total of 64.3% of the university community uses public transport to reach the UAB, the highest figure in almost the past 20 years (in 2001 it was 52.6%), according to the Mobility Habits Survey. The number of people travelling to and from the UAB in private vehicles has gradually decreased: from 43.4% in 2001 to 29% this year.

A conference on animal protection will be offered on Wednesday 15 January at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine as part of the "Campus activities" series, an initiatve aiming to foster student participation in a diversity of activities by stopping all academic activities once a month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
