Researchers from the UAB and the IBEC have revealed a way to effectively deliver a mycobacterium (M. brumae) needed for the treatment of bladder cancer in humans. The method, based on an emulsion using olive oil and tested on mice, was recently published in the journal Scientific Reports.

Researchers from the UAB and the ICN2 have developed a nanoencapsulation system which increases the efficacy of bacteriophages, viruses used to eliminate bacterial infections. The system was tested successfully in animals with Salmonella and could soon be used in humans.

A collaboration between the INc-UAB and Harvard University pioneers the increase of memory using optogenetics in mice in Spain. The study has been done on a group of neurons, Tac2, playing a key role in the memory of fear. Treated mice increased their long-term memory.
