Reasons for attending the Faculty of Biosciences

Life Sciences has been one of the disciplines with the most projection in the past 40 years and undoubtedly it will maintain its prominent role and social impact well into the rest of the 21st century.

The Faculty of Biosciences of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is pioneering the implementation of several studies related to the different areas of Life Sciences and their applications, all completely adapted to the convergence towards the European Higher Education Area. The degrees currently being offered at the Faculty of Biosciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Biology, Genetics, Microbiology and Biomedical Sciences, offered in collaboration with the UAB Faculty of Medicine) widely cover the broad spectrum of areas which make up this relevant scientific field and permit students to acquire a solid and updated training in both research and in the industry and health fields. The degrees offered by the faculty is comparable to what is available at the most prestigious European and American universities, making it easier for our students to spend academic stays at different universities.

An example of the excellent training our students receive can be seen by the large number of companies, health institutes and research centres in which they can conduct work placements during the last year of their degree. The UAB Faculty of Biosciences also forms part of an extensive and productive network of research departments and centres which generate a constant flow of ideas and knowledge. This guarantees that all teaching staff is scientifically very highly qualified in their area of expertise.
