The government of Catalonia soon will open a new call for 18 lecturers at the UAB under the Serra Húnter Programme. The international call to apply for positions will be open from 4 March to 1 April 2019.
A study led by the UAB and the UB has analysed the largest and oldest cases of dog sacrifice and burials occurring in Catalonia, a burial practice which had become generalised throughout the Iberian peninsula during the Middle Neolithic. The research also indicated that humans fed their animals with a diet similar to their own, which included cereals and vegetables.
On 14 February from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the UAB will be offering hot chocolate beverages to raise money for child cancer research projects at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.
The UAB Doctoral School has organised a competition for its PhD students. The challenge consists in an oral presentation of their research, lasting a maximum of four minutes and aimed at a general public. All those interested can sign up from 27 February to 21 March.
The UAB will be holding its annual Open Days to make its course offer for the 2019/20 academic year known to future students on 5, 6, 7 and 8 February.
French microbiologist and activist Marie-Paule Kieny was awarded an honorary doctorate by the UAB for, as Rector Margarita Arboix said in her speech, "her undeniable commitment to helping the underprivileged".
As is customary during the winter break, some UAB campus services will have special opening hours and most will close from 24 December 2018 to 6 January 2019.
