A study led by UAB researchers provides new data on the behaviour of sex chromosomes in marsupial sperm precursor cells, including a telomere-related lengthening mechanism previously unknown in the chromosomes of other mammals. The results of the study, published in PLOS Genetics, represent a breakthrough in the understanding of the function of genome organisation in the species.
The UAB for the first time, as the university presiding the Xarxa Vives, will play host to the final phases of the two debate leagues organised by this organisation, which coordinates the action of 22 universities: the high school league (from 30 March to 1 April) and the university league (from 4 to 7 April). All debates will be broadcast live.

An international research team, with the involvement of UAB and CREAF researcher Jordi Martínez-Vilalta, alerts of the fact that forests which were not considered to be threatened by extreme climatic episodes are actually strongly affected by them. The study, led by the MIT, was recently published in the journal Annual Review of Plant Biology.
The project "El so de la llum" refers to the light of the Mediterranean and spiritual sound. The authors of the exhibition, Adolf Pla and Marc Llimargas, define it as an artistic space created from the dialogue between Mompou's music and Gaudí's architecture.

On Tuesday 1 March the UAB Governing Team called the university community to observe a minute of silence at 1 p.m., in front of the different campus buildings, to show rejection of the military intervention in Ukraine and call for the resolution of political problems through dialogue and respect for peoples and minorities.
