A research by Natalia Sánchez from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the UAB was granted an award by the L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" programme, which every year awards the most trailblazing projects conducted by five researchers aged under 40. The awardees, who this year all belong to the life sciences' sector, receive a cash prize of 15,000 euros and have the mission to make femal leadership in science more visible.
The UAB, the Vall d’Hebron Cancer Institute (VHIO) and the Instituto Roche Foundation have jointly organised a seminar entitled “Personalised Precision Medicine, from Theory to Practice”, addressed to university students from the health sciences sector. Attendance is free, but you must sign up first. The seminar will take place from 27 to 29 September at the VHIO's Centre Cellex. Registration now open.
Starting on Friday 1 July, the campus cafés and restaurants will change their opening hours to better cater to the university community.
Ana Sánchez, enrolled in the PhD programme in Biotechnology, represented the UAB and became the winner of the "4 Minute Thesis" competition, which was held on 22 June in Barcelona. A total of 125 PhD candidates from all across Catalonia participated in the event, which was organised by the Catalan Research and Innovation Foundation.
The UAB Observatory for Equality organised an event with four speakers from different backgrounds and disciplines who held a debate about the different options for the use of non-sexist language and how to include the LGBTI perspective.
The XVIII Spanish Biology Olympiad will be held from March 23 to 26, 2023 at the UAB. Go ahead and propose a poster and a logo for the Biology Olympics that are held "at home"!
