Minor in Translation and Interpreting

Objectives

The Minor in Translation and Interpreting aims to provide knowledge and skills of both a general and a specialised nature in Translation and Interpreting, including basic aspects of the translating and interpreting profession, computer tools used, different types of text and more specialised topics.

Student profile

The minor is aimed at students of any Bachelor's Degree at the UAB (except those taking the Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpreting) who wish to add to their regular courses selected subjects from the Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpreting, thus expanding their competence through eminently practical courses on communication across languages and cultures.

Therefore, this minor could be of interest to UAB students from all disciplines, with a previous knowledge of French and German, and an interest in pursuing a career related to their degree subject area, but which requires the particular skills needed to perform well in an environment in which different languages are used by other team members and end-users. It is aimed, for example, at engineers, economists, psychologists or archaeologists who are planning to work in multinationals or in other countries in the future.

It is necessary to have a native or near-native speaker level of Spanish or Catalan and a level of B2 or C1 in French or German on the scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
