Francesc Gòdia elected chair of the Board of Directors of the Blood and Tissue Bank

Chair Professor of the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering Francesc Gòdia was recently elected chair of the Board of Directors of the Blood and Tissue Bank (Banc de Sang i Teixits).

On 22 December 2020, Francesc Gòdia i Casablancas was appointed chair of the Board of Directors of the Blood and Tissue Bank (BST). Gòdia, member of the Board of Directors since 2011, received his PhD in Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is chair professor of Chemical Engineering at the same university. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Animal Cell Technology, vice president of the Board of the European Federation of Biotechnology and president of the Parc Taulí Foundation.

The Blood and Tissue Bank is a public company belonging to the Generalitat de Catalunya's Ministry for Health. Its mission is to guarantee the supply and good use of blood and tissue in Catalonia, while also being a leading centre in diagnostic immunology and in the development of advanced therapies. The Blood and Tissue Bank is governed by the principles of Good Governance of Public Firms and Consortiums. In accordance with the Good Governance Code, no member of its Board of Directors carried out any executive duties within the organisations while being on the board.
