The Xeix Project will work with students from the Fort Pienc Primary School and the Fort Pius Secondary School. A group of 15 students in each of the schools will take part in the project. They will attend free 90 minute lessons in Mandarin as an extracurricular activity. The lessons will be given by students from the degrees of Translation and Interpreting and of East Asian Studies under the supervision of each centre's teaching staff.

This activity is aimed at fourth, fifth and sixth graders of Fort Pienc Primary School, and at all students of the Fort Pius Secondary School. In the academic year 2014-15, two different courses will be offered: a beginner's and an advanced course.

The lessons are part of an integration project including the neighbourhood's Chinese population. The project began in October 2012. The aim of the project is to give support to commercial associations and work on integrating the Chinese community into the schools, as well as promoting local artistic and cultural activities in the neighbourhood with the largest Chinese community in Barcelona.
