UAB publishes a new book on Kapuscinski

02/03/2009
Ryszard Kapuscinski would have turned 75 on 4 March 2007. To celebrate this event, Znak publishing house in Krakow commissioned thirteen translators who had worked on his books to write about a subject related to the Polish journalist. The surprise gift was to be launched at the end of February of that year with the aim of having Kapuscinski find his name in bookstores in an unusual place: instead of appearing as the author, he would be appearing as part of the title. He died however on 23 January 2007.
The presentation of the book was offered by Bru Rovira, traveller, journalist, writer and friend of Ryszard Kapuscinski. Speakers at the event included Agata Orzeszek, coordinator of the edition and lecturer of the Department of Translation and Interpreting at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona; Bonaventura Bassegoda, Vice-Rector of Social and Cultural Transfer at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona; and Marek Pernal, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Barcelona.
