The UAB to offer a Jean Monnet Module on the EU

The European Studies Institute (IEE) has been granted a Jean Monnet Module within the Erasmus + project to provide excellence in training on the European Union. This free course is aimed at students enrolled in a master's degree or PhD programme, and all those interested can register to attend specific sessions. The first session will take place on 10 September at the conference room (Sala de juntes) of the Faculty of Law.

The European Studies Institute (IEE) coordinates a free three-week introductory course on the European Union (EU). Sessions will take place at the Faculty of Law and participants will be able to gain a general knowledge on the EU. The course, consisting in fifteen sessions, will be offered by international researchers and academics, experts on the EU.

The course, a result of the Jean Monnet “Euconas” Module granted to IEE researcher Cristina Blasi, is aimed preferentially at master's and PhD students from the field of the social sciences, although it is also open to students from other areas of knowledge. Those interested in attending can register for the full course, or sign up for specific seminars.

In addition to provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the EU, the course also offers seminars on specific EU policies, such as economy, environment, security and research and innovation. In all these sessions students will examine the main issues of debate the EU is currently facing, such as the effects of Brexit, the management of the refugee crisis and the growing euroscepticism within the EU.

Jean Monnet” Module in Training Excellence

The Jean Monnet Module forms part of the Erasmus+ projects dedicated to fostering excellence in higher education in studies related to the European Union around the world. The objective is to bridge the gap between universities, researchers and politicians across the EU. The Jean Monnet courses are granted after a selection procedure in which university researchers from around the world participate.
