The UAB Nomenclature available on the intranet

20/06/2012
The nomenclature is a UAB framework document for a university nomenclature, passed by the Governing Council on 25 April 2012.
The main purpose of the document is to provide a coherent set of terms which can be immediately used in all university areas in which communication in these languages is necessary, and to assure the coherence of all UAB documents. The use of these terms aims to give way to a standardisation of university communication and an easier communication with other universities, research groups, lecturing staff and students from around the world. It will reinforce UAB's position in international ranking and guarantee that the university's websites meet the indicators of quality established by the Government of Catalonia.
In order to guarantee the validity of these terms proofreading tasks were carried out to appraise the adequacy, relevancy and applicability of the terms to a UAB-specific context. That is why not all terms available for one concept are offered and each case proposes the term that best suits the UAB context. Several UAB areas and offices were consulted before presenting the final version. This document will be used as the basis of an official university nomenclature, managed by the Office of Institutional Coordination and supervised by the Secretary General.
This glossary is in no case a static and final document, but will continue to be revised periodically and updated in order to incorporate new terms as needed. In this sense, one year from now a follow-up report will be presented to the Governing Council to inform upon its use and present proposals for modification.
The intranet section contains two additional parts: Terminology consultations and Dictionaries and translators.
