The UAB is sad to announce the death of Anna Balletbó
Anna Balletbò, retireed professor in the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertisting and the Department of Communication Studies passed away on 24 October 2025. The UAB wishes to extend its most heartfelt condolences to all those who knew and loved her, and express its sadness for losing a member of its community.
She graduated in Education and in Modern and Contemporary History and was lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Studies during different periods between 1980 and 2007. Batlletbò taught current affairs subjects, such as radio and television news, providing students with all her years of experience as a professional in the press, radio and television, acquired throughout a long career as a collaborator in media such as RTVE, 3Cat, the BBC, El País, La Vanguardia, Ràdio 4, La Cope, Onda Cero, Com Ràdio, Antena 3 and Telecinco.
Apart from lecturing and journalism, Balletbò was elected member of the Spanish Congress of Deputies from 1980 to 2000 for the Socialist Party of Catalonia. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of RTVE and was currently president of the Olof Palme International Foundation. In 2006, she received the Cross of Sant Jordi from the Government of Catalonia.
The vigil will be on 26 October starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Ronda de Dalt Funeral Home in Barcelona and the farewell ceremony will take place the following day, 27 October at 12 noon.
The UAB extends its deepest condolences to her family and friends and to all those who knew and appreciated her, and expresses its sorrow in losing a member of its community.
