The Faculty of Communication Studies and UABmèdia celebrate 100 years of radio in Catalonia

Tuesday 13 February is World Radio Day and in 2024, this day will mark 100 years since the beginning of radio emissions in Catalonia. Wtith this double celebration, on Tuesday UABràdio will be broadcasting a special live programme from the entrance hall of the UAB Faculty of Communication Studies. The emission will begin at 3 p.m. and can be followed on UABràdio (100.3 FM) and will also be streamed live (uab.media).

The programme leaves the studio and marks the beginning of the activities that will take place throughout the year until November, when it will be exactly 100 years since the inauguration of the first official radio station in Catalonia and throughout Spain: Ràdio Barcelona.

The UABràdio team has prepared special contents and will receive guests to discuss the evolution of radio as an essential medium in the history of communication. Young people will also intervene to talk about the habits of consumption of radio programmes, as well as about those produced by the students of the faculty. A unique news report on the main events happening this special year also will be presented.
