Pablo Sanz's dissertation

12/09/2013

On September 30th 2013 the student of Sociology Pablo Sanz will defend his doctoral dissetation "Activation in the European Employment Strategy (EES): translation to the discourses and policies of Spain and the UK" supervised by Dr.Andreu Lope.

The defense will be held at the Grades Hall of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at 12pm.

The PhD entitled "Activation in the European Employment Strategy (EES): translation to the discourses and policies of Spain and the UK", seeks to answer two fundamental questions: 1) How is defined the activation approach within the European institutions in the period 1997 to 2008?, 2) How is understood and implemented this activation approach in two EU member countries (Spain, UK) embedded in different employment models? In order to answer these questions, it is conducted a qualitative research focused on the discourse analysis of the activation. Moreover, we research the policies implemented within both states. The general aim is to infer the activation discourse present in the EES and to study how it has been accepted, interpreted and applied in two different countries as Spain and the UK.
