The Welcoming Programme of the Fundación Autónoma Solidaria and the Spanish UNHCR Committee organize online training for teachers Aulas Refugio, Aulas transformadoras: Asilo, Interculturalidad Crítica y Antirracismo en la educación universitaria (Sheltter Classrooms, Transforming Classrooms: Sheltter, Interculturalism Critic and Antiracism at university education).

We live in a world characterized by the constant increase in forced displacement. Persecution, violent conflict and human rights violations force many people to face a dangerous journey in search of safety. Moreover, we are faced with a scenario of legitimizing hate speech and xenophobia. The growing visibility of the anti-racist struggles raise the need to reverse, from educational spaces, the structural discrimination experienced by migrants, refugees and racialized, and it calls on us to reflect on the stance and approach of the university academy to racism, Eurocentrism, white privilege or interculturalism.

The Reception  Programme of the Fundación Autónoma Solidaria and the Spanish UNHCR Committee organize online training for teachers Aulas Refugio, Aulas transformadoras: Asilo, Interculturalidad Crítica y Antirracismo en la educación universitaria (Sheltter Classrooms, Change-making Classrooms: Sheltter, Interculturalism Critic and Antiracism at university education).

Understanding and transmitting this reality, from an approach of critical interculturality, that incorporates decolonials perspectives, as well as tools of anti-racist pedagogy, constitutes the challenge of a higher education that seeks to influence the construction of more fair societies, participatives and open to diversity.

This online course aims to contribute to the incorporation of these issues as specific and transversal aspects of university education, generating a multidisciplinary space for the exchange of strategies and resources for teaching. The proposal is located, on the one hand, in the lines of advocacy, awareness-raising and training of the FAS Reception  Programme, dedicated to improving university practices with regard to violations of rights suffered by persons seeking refuge. On the other hand, it is part of the project "No one is left behind: processes of transformation in the university community towards a responsible and active citizenship with the human rights of refugees, the framework of Agenda 2030" of the Spanish committee of UNHCR.

The activity, in virtual format, will take place on 30 June, 2, 7 and 9 July, from 11h to 13h30. It is a training accredited by the Unitat de Formació i Desenvolupament Professional of the UAB.
