Lecturer Jordi Domènech awarded the Marta Mata Prize in Education

The book “Indagación, ABP y controversias. Apuntes para la Competencia Científica”, by Faculty of Education Studies lecturer Jordi Domènech was awarded the Marta Mata Prize in Education, conferred onto him by the Rosa Sensat Teachers' Association.

Jordi Domènech, secondary school teacher and lecturer of the Department of Teaching of Mathematics and Experimental Sciences at the UAB Faculty of Education Studies, has been awarded the 38th Marta Mata Prize in Education, conferred onto him by the Rosa Sensat Teachers' Association, for his book “Indagación, ABP y controversias. Apuntes para la Competencia Científica”.

Domènech holds a PhD in Biology and a BA in Humanities. He is a teacher at the Marta Estrada Secondary School in Granollers, and coordinates a variety of projects focusing on innovative teaching in science and competence assessment. His book considers science to be a subject which cannot be taught as a static knowledge, but rather as a matter which is in constant evolution and influenced by political, economic and ethical factors.

The prize is awarded in collaboration with the Artur Martorell Foundation, the Government of Catalonia's Ministry for Education, the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Institute for Education of the Barcelona City Council.

The prize is awarded annually to education-related pieces, based on the analysis of and reflection on the practice, contributing to an improvement on education and strengthening renovations in teaching which promote, acknowledge and shed light on the renovating tasks of teachers and other educators who contribute to the improvement of education and the redevelopment of teaching.
