Jump on the bandwagon and volunteer
30/09/2019
The FAS aims to promote that students, teaching and research staff and administrative and service staff voluntarily participate in social support programmes.
What is a university volunteering?
It is the active and voluntary participation in the framework of the university to help people at risk of social exclusion or in difficult life situations to contribute to improve their living conditions and open them new options for the future. It also implies the participations in actions and campaigns to denounce and to raise the awareness about social inequalities, health an environment to show the commitment with social change and global justice.
Last year, more than 400 people from the UAB joined the volunteer team of the FAS:
- In the Justice programme (at penal institutions and correctional institutions for young people);
- In the CROMA 2.0 programme (helping children in situations of vulnerability in schools);
- In the Refugee Reception programme;
- In the Social-healthcare programme, helping children and elderly people hospitalized
- In the Environment group or the Health promotion in the university campus group, among others.
People participating in the volunteering at the FAS receive a previous training session regarding the activity they want to undertake and they can validate their participation with credits, if they so wish.
On the FAS social media you can watch the videos where volunteers explain their experiences.
