Green Light for the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

The Government of Catalonia and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) have agreed to unify their research centres in nanoscience and strengthen research activities carried out in this area. This merge is possible thanks to an agreement signed by the Department of Economy and Knowledge, CSIC and UAB. The ICN2 will be located in a new building at the university campus.

Under this agreement the CSIC joins the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology (ICN) Board and thus strengthens collaborations maintained between the two institutes since 2006. The result is the creation of the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, which integrates the best research groups of both institutions.
The new centre will be located in the UAB campus. The ICN2 adopts the CERCA system, the Catalan governance model for research institutes, which ensures flexibility in management and better use of public resources.
