Effects of the war in Syria from a gender and ecofeminist perspective

Two Syrian students will give an online conference on 27 April at 6 p.m. to talk about the effects of the war on Syrian women and their role in rebuilding their country.

The refugee reception programme organised in collaboration with the School for a Culture of Peace and the Catalan Development Collaboration Agency will be offering an event entitled “Women and the Syrian Conflict”, a conference and debate which will include experts in the role of women during the war in Syria. The event will take place on 27 April at 6 p.m. It will be in English and all those interested can join on Zoom by clicking this link

The debate will be moderated by Nissrin Al jundi, a graduate in English Studies by the University of Damasc and war refugee. Participating in the debate will be Angham Daiyoub, one of the grantees of the Prevention of Violent Extremisms programme who is currently enrolled in the UAB's PhD Terrestrial Ecology programme, with a doctoral thesis on ecofeminism and conservation of forests in violent environments (at the CREAF), and Bayan Al Fadel, also a grantee of the same programme, enrolled in the PhD programme on Human Security and Global Law.

The conference will focus on the Syrian conflict, how it began, who took part in it and the current state of the conflict. Following, a debate will be offered on the effects of the war from a gender and ecofeminist perspective within the specific context of Syria.
