The documentary was awarded "for its formal quality, aesthetics, for its delicate expression of gestures and memory". In addition, it received another distinction on behalf of the jury of the Rassegna Internazionale del Cinema Archeologico di Rovereto, which considered it “a successful attempt to refresh the past, in this case the history of pottery in Europe of the Bronze Age, through the hands and mastery of today's craftsmen”.

“In Their Hands” is the result of a project funded by the Creative Europe programme under the scientific coordination of the Research Group in Mediterranean Social Archaeoecology (ASOME) from the Department of Prehistory at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

The documentary is divided into four parts, and each was filmed by renowned director from each region (Marcello Peres, Nicola Tagliabue, Thomas Claus, Csaba Balogh and Vladan Caricic Tzar), with an introductory recreation filmed at the La Bastida archaeological site (Totana, Murcia). The documentary is also being presented this year at the Artefacta Film Festival in Düsseldorf, Germany, and at the Firenze Archeofilm Festival in Italy.

With the aid of music and images, the 30-minute film shows the process of creation of four societies existing over four thousand years ago, each of them using different techniques to create vessels which were used for very similar purposes.

The film had already been presented at the Bidasoa International Archaeological Film Festival (FICAB) and in February in the Firenze Archeofilm Festival. Due to the pandemic, it will be available online as part of the festivals Rassegna Internazionale del Cinema Archeologico di Rovereto in Trento, Italy; the 6th International Archaeology Film Festival in Split, Croatia; and the Rassegna del Documentario e della Comunicaziones Archeologica di Licodia Eubea in Sicily.

The documentary can be viewed on the UAB's YouTube channel.
