Advances in study of food microorganisms
The 14th edition of the Workshop on Rapid Methods and Automation in Food Microbiology, organised by the Special Food Technology Research Centre (CERPTA) and the Department of Animal and Food Science, will be held at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from 24 to 27 November.

Among the highlights of this workshop are various talks by specialists in the study of microorganisms. One of these, on polymerase chain reaction, is to be given on 24 November by Armand Sánchez, Chair of the Department of Animal and Food Science at the UAB. On the same day, Jon Basagoiti, from the company Imagining Management Systems, will talk about microbiological analyses.
On the second day of the workshop, Daniel Ramón Vidal, of Biópolis, will discuss genome sequencing applied to food safety. Finally, on Thursday, David Tomàs from the Nestlé Research Centre will deal with the preparation of samples for microbiological analyses.
The event also includes practical laboratory sessions, held over the three days, in morning and afternoon groups and alternating between Spanish and English as required.
Finally, the MRAMA offers three workshops on 27 November, including one that is a novelty, entitled "PlasmIA Technology: a brand new immuno-optical approach for easy, rapid and multiplex pathogen detection in today's routine laboratories”.
As in previous editions, it is necessary to sign up previously in order to take part.
