For the fourth consecutive year, children from schools of the Vallès Occidental that participate in the CROMA Program of the FAS visited the UAB to see up close what happens at the university. On Thursday, May 8, children from schools of Terrassa, Badia, Cerdanyola del Vallès, Sabadell and Rubí arrived to the campus around 10:00 a.m. and began enthusiastic a series of activities.

They were more than 300 children who, wearing the green t-shirts that the FAS gave to them, and accompanied by 80 volunteers, participated in some of the 10 activities organized by faculties, departments and student societies: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Physics, Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Faculty of Psychology, the PIUNE, the waste repository of the UAB and the student society "OTAKU UAB".

What kind of activities? Entering a real courtroom and simulate a trial at the Faculty of Law, or entering into a television studio and take the role of a TV presenter, stage manager or people interviewed. Learning that liquid nitrogen can make trains levitate and check it with your own eyes, discovering the flora and fauna of the UAB, seeing first-hand the veterinary hospital or learning to move in a wheelchair, among many others.

If this is the fourth time that we repeat this event is because year after year it has been very positive, especially for children. For one day, children can see how it is the day to day their models. What do they study? Where do they study? What is the UAB like? It is also the perfect occasion for these children to consider university and higher education as an option for the future.

At 1:00 p.m. at the Cívica Square took place an activity where children shared what they had learned about the campus. Half an hour later, they could recover energy by eating outdoors.

Several entities and centers participate in this event in order to make it work and so that everybody can enjoy it: the FAS, schools and the UAB. As in previous years, there are some companies that also collaborate: on the one hand, PepsiCo, which has already participated in other occasions, on the other hand, the Òptica Universitària of the UAB. They participate through the donation of beverages, materials and resources to make possible this event.

This year, there have been also some media which have been interested in this activity and have broadcasted it. Some of these media are Cugat.cat, Cerdanyola.info and terrassadigital.cat.
