The CROMA 2.0 socio-educational program -coordinated by FAS- has begun its activity and is expected to involve 24 schools close to the university for more than 280 primary school children. UAB students run workshops and mentorships for these children from less resourceful backgrounds.

ProgramaCROMA2021

The main objective of the CROMA 2.0 program is to awaken the interest in learning of 5th and 6th grade students in a situation of socio-economic vulnerability who do not have support outside of school hours.

The main activity is workshops that combine group dynamics, study support and research projects. These workshops are dynamized by UAB students, mainly from the faculties of Educational Sciences and Psychology.

Thanks to the voluntary participation of UAB students, it is possible to bring the university closer to the school environment. Through the workshops, various proposals are made based on the research that is being carried out at the university. They last between 6 and 8 sessions and revolve around a challenge that students must solve. The results of this project will be presented at the end of May at a closing day at the UAB.

Mentorships: individualized accompaniment

As a complement to the workshops, this course continues virtual mentoring. They consist of weekly meetings in which UAB students help children in the program with their academic assignments. Mentoring is aimed at those children who show more academic difficulties and aim to add value to the group work carried out in the workshops. In addition, these meetings serve to create emotional bonds between mentor and student.

This year, the program will be run in 24 public schools in the Vallès Occidental, in 6 municipalities: Cerdanyola, Montcada, Ripollet, Rubí, Sabadell and Terrassa. Currently, 8 volunteer students and 9 scholarship students are participating. The schools that have already begun activity are: Les Fontetes, Sant Martí, Serraparera and Turó de Guiera de Cerdanyola. El Turó, El Viver, Font Freda and Reixac de Montcada. Del Bosc, Montessori, Pau Casals and Ramon Llull de Rubí. And Antoni Ubach, Joan Marquès i Casals, Josep Ventalló and Ramón y Cajal de Terrassa.
