Las herederas

The UAB Cinema hosts previews free of charge and in original version with subtitles to promote films that will soon be screened in some of the best cinemas in the country. Cultura en Viu sets up this billboard on Thursdays at 1 p.m and the ticket window is open from 12 p.m to pick up the tickets.


On Thursday 7 March we will screen the premiere of Las herederas (2018), by Marcelo Martinessi.
Chela and Chiquita’s come from wealthy families. Their financial situation starts to worsen and they begin to sell off their inherited possessions. Their life changes when their debts lead to Chiquita being imprisoned on fraud charges. Chela is then forced to face a new reality and starts working as a taxi driver. Settling into her new life, she will also start a relationship with Angy, a much younger woman.
Chela will finally start to break out from her shell and engage with the world, embarking on her own personal, intimate revolution.
The film was awarded in different festivals around the world: Jury Special Prize in Berlinale (2018), best director for FIPRESCI prize and Silver Bear for best actress (Brun). The movie was also awarded with the best director and opera prima in the Fénix Awards.
Marcelo Martinessi (1973) is a Paraguayan screenwriter and cinema director. He directed the short films Karai Nord (2009), Calle última (2011), El baldío (2014) and La voz perdida (2016), all recognized in international festivals. On the other hand, he also directed several documentaries for television. In fact, he was the first director of TV Pública Paraguay since its creation (2010) until the June 2012 crisis. Las herederas is his first feature film.

Ticket office opens 30 minutes before beginning of each screening.
On Thursdays, premiere days, ticket office opens from 12 noon onwards.
Seats cannot be booked and only one ticket will be given per person.
