Workshops on the media's role in creating a more egalitarian society

The Department of Journalism and Communication Studies and the MIM (Inter-Mediterranean Mediation) Master's degree have organised a series of workshops to explore the role of communication in the fight against inequality. These workshops are aimed at the whole UAB community and enrolment is open until 8 October, free of charge.

With the aim of letting students participate actively in research into the major role that the media can play in creating a more egalitarian society, the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies, through its Master's degree in Inter-Mediterranean Mediation (MIM), has prepared the 2nd Series of Workshops on Communication and Development. The project is supported by the UAB Solidarity Fund, managed by Fundació Autònoma Solidaria (FAS).

The Workshops on Communication, Cooperation and Development have the aim of promoting good communication practice in the field of cooperation and of highlighting its importance in the battle for human rights. They will be held on 13 October, 26 November and 11 December.

Workshop 1: A model of participative communication for social change, 13 October 2015, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Led by Thomas Tufte, University of Roskilde (Denmark).
 
Workshop 2: Communication for health: what it means and how to draw up an efficient welfare plan, 26 November 2015, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Led by Rafael Obregón, Chief of Communication for Development, UNICEF.
  
Workshop 3: How to raise funds for non-profits, 11 December 2015, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Led by Sònia Flotats, an online journalist specialising in the communication and marketing of social initiatives.
 
These workshops are aimed at the whole UAB community and enrolment is free of charge. To enrol, just send an email to the address master.mim@uab.cat with the following details. Full name, national ID or passport number, academic background and areas of interest. The last day for enrolling is 8 October.
 
The Department will issue certificates to those who attend all the activities.
