Marta Borrueco takes over coordination of the UAB PhD Programme in Sports Sciences

Marta Borrueco takes over coordination of the PhD in Sports Sciences to strengthen guidance for the research community and drive the academic growth of the programme.
The PhD Programme in Sports Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona begins the academic year with the appointment of Dr. Marta Borrueco Carmona as its new coordinator. Dr. Borrueco takes over from Dr. Maria Prat, who led the programme during its first four years driving its creation and institutional establishment, thus opening a phase focused on continuing the work achieved and tackling new academic challenges with close support for the doctoral community.
Holding a PhD in Health and Sport Psychology from the UAB, serving as a tenure-track lecturer (professora lectora) in the Department of Basic, Developmental and Educational Psychology, and actively researching within IRE-UAB and GEPE-UAB, Marta brings an academic and scientific background tied to the study of athletic careers and the role of social agents involved in sports settings. In addition, she leads as principal investigator a project on the factors that condition women's professional pathways, work-life balance, and mental health in the sporting context.
Promoted by IRE-UAB, the PhD Programme in Sports Sciences offers an interdisciplinary framework of excellence centered on applied research in physical activity, performance, communication, health, and the social dimension of sport, integrating rigorous methodologies and high-impact projects that foster networking among the predoctoral community. The programme includes different research lines addressing digital sport and communication, psychological, educational and social development, health and sustainability, sports performance, Olympic studies, sports organization management and governance, as well as documentation and research methodology applied to sport.
