Dr. Francesca Vitali, an Assistant professor from the University of Verona, has temporarily joined IRE-UAB to collaborate with the Grup d’Estudis en Psicologia de l’Esport (GEPE). This academic stay allows the Institute to strengthen international ties and enhance lines of research applied to the performance and well-being of athletes.

The collaboration between Francesca and GEPE has spanned decades through Erasmus+ Sport projects

During her stay, Francesca contributes her extensive career as a senior researcher and elite sports psychologist, having worked with Italian national teams across various disciplines. Her work during this period focuses on the exchange of methodologies and teaching in specialized seminars, such as the one recently held at the Institute regarding gender inequalities and their impact on sports sciences.

Among her professional achievements, she serves as the scientific director of the Academic Coach project, which focuses on the dual career of student-athletes, and holds the position of vice president of the Italian Association of Sport and Exercise Psychology (AIPS). Furthermore, since 2023, she has been the official psychologist for the Italian Women's National Rugby Team, an experience she applies to her analysis of gender perspectives in high-level competition.

Her experience in high performance and her leadership in associations such as AIPS and Assist provide differential value, offering first-hand knowledge of current intervention strategies in elite sports and the career development of research staff.
