Anna Tous Rovirosa analyzes audiovisual fiction, gender, and sport on the culturalstudies podcast, hosted by prominent scholar Toby Miller.

Anna Tous Rovirosa, researcher at IRE-UAB and lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies at the UAB, took part in the international podcast culturalstudies, hosted by Professor Toby Miller, discussing the book Series deportivas de televisión (Tirant Lo Blanch, 2026). In the interview, she addresses topics related to audiovisual fiction, gender studies, and depictions of sport across contemporary media culture, exploring how these productions mirror and shape collective social imaginaries.

The researcher was interviewed on the culturalstudies podcast, hosted by Toby Miller, a forum dedicated to the critical analysis of culture, media, and society. Throughout the conversation, she reflects on audiovisual fiction—one of her primary research strands—as well as the interplay between gender, media narratives, and sports representation, giving particular consideration to female roles, onscreen power dynamics, and the evolution of serialized storytelling on contemporary streaming platforms.

The episode belongs to the series of discussions culturalstudies conducts with researchers from diverse disciplines to examine the role of culture in interpreting contemporary social developments. The session features an exchange with Toby Miller, an international reference in cultural studies and author of Sportsex (2001), establishing a premier academic dialogue on the crossroads of sport, media, and critical theory.
