Nineteen students awarded for their final projects on sustainable development

Entre dels premis TFG sobre desenvolupament sostenible i justícia global
On 29 January, Fundació Autònoma Solidària celebrated a ceremony for the Bachelor’s Degree Final Project related with Sustainable Development and Global Justice Awards, where 19 students were awarded for their final projects. Four other prizes for other knowledge fields were also awarded with financial compensation.

The ceremony was presented by Jordi Prat, director of the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS): David Llistar, director of the Global Justice and International Cooperation from the City Council of Barcelona and Sara Moreno, Vice-Rector for Students and Employability.
 
Afterwards, the 19 winners collected their certificate and second prize that recognized them as the winners of the 2nd Sustainable Development and Global Justice Awards. After collecting their prize, they briefly explained the content and relation of their projects with sustainable development.
 
On the other hand, among these 19 winners per degree, four awards were handed over according to the field of knowledge. Their prize was a financial compensation of 250 Euros. The list of the projects awarded can be consulted here.
 


Selection of the winning projects
 
In the first round, the final year projects were assessed by a professor of the Faculty who is expert on the field and a specialist from the Area of Cooperation and Education for Global Justice, part of Fundació Autònoma Solidària, according to the established conditions in the call.
 
The results of this evaluation were presented in a resolution committee formed by Sara Moreno, Vice-Rector for Students and Employability; Jordi Prat, director of FAS; Silvia Ayala, specialist in FAS; Georgina Casas, representative of Lafede.cat – organizations for global justice; Silvia Puente, adjunct professor of education and responsible for the ESDU project in FAS; Marta Bertran, vice-dean for Students and Mobility; Àngel Puyol, professor in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in UAB; Mercedes Rullán, professor in UAB’s School of Engineering and Ignasi Marco, professor of Veterinary in UAB.
 
This committee decided to award a total of 19 final projects of thirteen different faculties. The subjects of the awarded projects tackle a range of different fields of knowledge and some Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as production and responsible consumption; cities and sustainable communities or action for the climate.

The call for Sustainable Development and Global Justice Awards aims to encourage the interest of research on sustainable development and global justice, covering the University’s commitment fight against the challenges of today and its key role in generating critical knowledge and educating active citizens, as well as promoting social change.
 
This call received the support of the City Council of Barcelona.
