Fourth Marcela de Juan Chinese Translation Award ceremony

Mireia Vargas Urpí, lecturer in the Department of Translation and Interpreting and East Asian Studies at the UAB, and author of the translation into Catalan of Wu Ming-yi's The Man with the Compound Eyes (L’home dels ulls compostos, Editorial Chronos), will be awarded the 4th Marcela de Juan Chinese Translation Award. This award is given by the Confucius Institute Foundation of Barcelona, the TXICC research group and the UAB Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.  

The ceremony will be held on 26 October at 7 p.m. at the headquarters of the Confucius Institute of Barcelona. Places are limited, please sign up here to attend.

The event will include the presence of Foundation Director Li Peihua, Commissioner for Language Policy at the UAB Laura Santamaria, former Dean of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting Albert Branchadell, in representation of current Dean Olga Torres, and finally, jury member and UOC lecturer Carles Prado.

The objective of the award is to foster translations from Chinese into Catalan and Spanish and also award the top translations in this sector.
