Mercedes Unzeta, emeritus professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the UAB, was awarded a prize in the institutional event commemorating International Women's Day on 8 March at the UAB.
A series of activities will be held on campus during this month in commemoration of International Women's Day. This year's institutional ceremony was held in honour of the career path of chemist Mercedes Unzeta.
Dr Carme Riera, professor of the Department of Spanish Studies at the UAB, has been selected to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of the Balearic Islands after being nominated by the Spanish, Modern and Classic Philology Department.
Juan Luis Arsuaga, co-director of the excavations at Atapuerca, will give a conference to inaugurate this year's second semester at the Faculty of Biosciences on Thursday 23 February. The conference forms part of the events celebrating ten years since the faculty first opened.
