Investiga.edu
Investiga.edu is an educational innovation program developed in the regions of Lleida with the goal of promoting science in rural areas. The project was launched by the Association for Research and Dissemination of Historic Heritage and began during the 2020–2021 school year. Due to its growth, after two academic years, Investiga.edu became managed by the Department of Prehistory at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) as of last year.
The program is based on the design and implementation of school research projects focused on archaeology, paleontology, and geology. These projects investigate archaeological and paleontological sites located near the participating schools and high schools, all of which are linked to the Archaeology and Paleontology Campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Investiga.edu is promoted by the Department of Prehistory at UAB and is supported by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). The project also benefits from the collaboration of researchers and research groups working at the sites studied by participating students. The program aims to bring university-level research directly into classrooms and to inspire scientific vocations from childhood through adolescence.
Investiga.edu is an educational innovation program carried out within the framework of the project “Youth Archaeology Campus – Investiga.edu” (FCT-21-17031). It is promoted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona with the support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) under the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The current project builds on the experiences of previous years (FCT-19-15384 and FCT-20-16064), which took place in various educational centers across the Catalan Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees regions.
