UAB Refugee Scholarships

Description

The #UABRefugee Scholarships promote access to higher education as a fundamental right for individuals who have experienced forced displacement and/or are seeking refuge, ensuring equal access to higher education for all. Each year, several calls are made for study scholarships, mobility grants, and material support.

Requirements

Some of the requirements to obtain the scholarships are:

  • Be an applicant for asylum or to hold refugee status in Spain in accordance with Law 12/2009 of October 30, that regulates the Right to Asylum and Subsidiary Protection.
  • Have been an asylum seeker or to come from a humanitarian emergency zone and be in an irregular situation due to the denial of asylum for a maximum of two years prior to the date of the scholarship application.
  • Reside in a conflict zone and/or climate emergency covered by the call for applications.
  • Justify another situation comparable to the concepts of seeking refuge and forced displacement.
  • Hold the qualification that allows the access to the requested studies. In cases where the applicant cannot submit all the required documentation due to issues related to their asylum-seeking or forced displacement status (documentary delays), a documentary feasibility study will be conducted.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a minimum B2 level of proficiency in the language of instruction for the studies for which they are applying for the scholarship. If an official certificate is not available, the applicant may be invited to an interview to assess their language level.
