Who makes up the examining board?
The examining board proposal for the defence of the thesis may be composed of a maximum of three permanent members of the UAB or other collaborating institutions with the School for School Studies or the PhD programme.
Of the two or three reserve members, only one can be from the UAB or other collaborating institutions with the School for School Studies or the PhD programme.
Academic situation of the examining board members.
It is very important that in the proposal form for the examining board members you indicate the academic situation of member in accordance with that stipulated on the form. If not you can request their CVs which will delay the approval and nomination of the examining board by the School for Doctoral Studies and therefore the date of approval of the deposit of the thesis will be prolonged and therefore the date of the defence will also be later.
If on the say you defend your thesis one of the examining board members cannot attend you can engage one of the reserves, bearing in mind that a maximum of one of the three examining board members can be from the UAB or one of the collaborating institutions of the School for Doctoral Studies or the PhD programme.
Regulations of the Department of Mathematics.
The UAB regulations for the composition of the defence examining board is complemented by a requirement agreed by the Third Cycle Committee of the Department of Mathematics that as a minimum the Examining Board Secretary must be a member of the PhD programme in mathematics UAB.
