On Thursday 2 October, the Dona TIC 2025 Awards were held at the Petit Palau de la Música in Barcelona, a recognition for professionals and students in the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) field. A total of 12 women received an award or special mention for talent in the ICT sector. Among the winners were students and alumni of the UAB School of Engineering.

As students, Aimara Ventoso won the award as University ICT Student and Lucía Pallarés as PhD ICT Student. As professionals, Yolanda Lupiáñez was awarded in the Entrepreneur category, a category in which the UAB Medicine student and PhD student at the UAB-Hospital de Vall d'Hebron, Marina Sánchez Calleja, was a finalist. Among the professionals, Sílvia Sanvicente received a special mention in cybersecurity. It is also worth mentioning Ariadna Garnica, also a student at the School of Engineering who was a finalist in the University ICT Student category.

Once again, the event aimed to be a recognition to give visibility to women within a sector as male-dominated as is the ICT field. The objective is to increase the number of female role models and achieve an impact from their presence in ICT leadership positions.
